Some people think that cultural traditions may be destroyed when they are used as money-making attractions aimed at tourists. Others believe it is the only way to save these traditions. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Some are of the opinion that when cultural traditions are used for practical purposes, say, money-making through tourist attractions, they are put at the risk of annihilation; however, some others find such ways viable solutions to save traditions.

Our modern world is mostly governed by capitalism whose main purpose is to provide human welfare with economic success. One of the grand pillars of the success of capitalism is globalization which has led to the unification of the whole world and enriched tourism business. As a result, people from all the world can travel, inject budget to a country’s economy through tourism and find out about various traditions. Thus, if we are not cautious, such practical purposes might transform traditional values into money-making means. 

Due to globalization and technological advances, people can get familiar with minor points of interest, cultures, customs, and traditions throughout the world. Tourism websites such as Tripadvisor and Lonelyplanet are huge forums where travelers from all over the world leave descriptive and explanatory comments on tourist attractions. Though providing a lot of information, such websites and forums have, therefore, shed light on many traditions that are shrouded in mystery.

I believe to prevent the local traditional values from being dwindled into nothingness, professionally educated people in the field of tourism should enter the scene. The more educated tour guides and professional tourism organizations, which are run by people well-versed in tourism, we have, the less traditional values are stained by materialism. 

In conclusion, some decisive measures must be taken by governments to make sure that local traditional values are not destroyed. One of the best ways to address this issue is to educate people who are passionate about tourism and hire them in the future.
