How many hours do you sleep everyday or every night?
I get 6 or 7 hours of sleep every night, I don’t usually sleep during the day. I’m not a big fan of sleep.

Did you sleep more in the past than you do now?
I don’t think so. Back in the day, when I was a teenager, I used to stay up late at night watching movies and playing video games because I didn’t have to wake up early in the morning to go to work. Now that I’m employed as a teacher, I need to go to sleep earlier than the past to be able to get to work on time in the morning.

Have your sleeping habits changed since you were younger?
As I told you before, when I was a teenager I used to sleep more in the morning since I would spend most of the night staying awake. But with age, comes great responsibility, and as a mature person, I have to go to sleep earlier so that I can wake up early in the morning to go to work.
Do you think it’s good to have a nap during the day?
I think it differs from one person to another. Some people take a nap regularly at the same time each day to recharge their batteries. But I don’t have the luxury of having a quiet and restful place to sleep during the day since I’m very busy with work. But having said that, I think if you’re spending a big chunk of the day feeling sleepy, it’s better to take a short nap.
Do you think old people need more sleep than young people?
I think it’s a common misconception that old people need to sleep more compared to young people. I think, biologically speaking, human need for sleep doesn’t increase by age. You know, sleep has several stages including periods of light and deep sleep. Older people spend more time in the lighter stages of sleep than in deep sleep. It’s also worth mentioning that the elderly experience more sleep disturbances and they drifted in and out of sleep all night. I think that’s why thay need to sleep during the day to make up for the loss of night-time sleep.
Do you think it’s important to have enough sleep?
I think it’s essential for good health to get quality sleep. While we sleep, our body rebuilds our muscles and our brain processes and stores the information we’ve absorbed during the day. Sleep also regulates our emotions. Those people who don’t get enough sleep tend to experience and show negative emotions.
